The score is not a guarantee
The 1–10 score is a forecast of sky beauty around sunset, not a guarantee. Weather has a mind of its own: we use the best available data (cloud layers, air transparency, humidity and a dozen more factors), but sometimes the sky decides otherwise.
How to read the scale: 8 and above — a great sunset, don't miss it; 6–8 — a good one, worth the trip; below 6 — meh, not worth going out of your way.
Your photos
By sending a sunset photo you allow us to publish it on this site — in the spot gallery, day history and best-sunset ratings — credited with your profile name.
Copyright stays with you. We don't sell your photos or pass them to third parties.
Every photo is moderated before publication. We may decline a photo without explanation (for example, if it's not a sunset).
Want your photo removed — write to us and we'll take it down.
Account & data
Sign-in is via Google. We store your name, email and avatar (editable in your account), your favourite spots, submissions and photos. If you enable notifications — also your browser's push subscription, plus an anonymous device id for «sunset started» check-ins.
No spam, no data sharing. Geolocation never leaves your device: your browser computes distances to spots itself and no coordinates are sent to us. We strip capture metadata (including GPS) from photos before publishing.
Want your account and data deleted — write to us.
Spots & submissions
Any signed-in user can suggest a new spot. Submissions are moderated: we check the place exists and the sunset is actually visible from there.
Spot descriptions and scores are our data-driven but subjective opinion. Venues on the map are not ads unless marked otherwise.
If anything is still unclear, ping us on the project socials (links at the bottom of the home page).
